In this engaging lesson, students develop their understanding of the key events in the life of Jesus Christ. The learning is guided by a clear and colourful PowerPoint presentation, which guides students through the following step-by-step journey: -Personal Spirituality - considering important events in their own life; -Comprehending and sequencing - card-sorting the main events in Jesus’ life; -Using independent research skills to find out more about one of the key events in Jesus’ life, before creating newspaper reports detailing their findings; -Considering a deeper thinking question, with the aid of clear points for consideration; -Completing a plenary quiz to assess their understanding. This resource pack contains a comprehensive Powerpoint, alongside an eye-catching worksheet. In the past, I have used this lesson with children from across Key Stage 2 - the key learning is aligned with curriculum expectations for RE, and also the content prescribed by most diocese regions. Creativity - Collective Worship Session!

This fun and original collective worship session assists children in understanding the value of being creative in all of their endeavours, through: Understanding what creativity is, and recognising why it is such an important skill; Recognising God’s creativity and understanding how creativity is a trait within everyone (including themselves); Observing some amazing examples of the successes that creativity can catalyse; Learning strategies to demonstrate creativity in their own lives. This worship session is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. The session also includes a short video and discussion focusing on the Genesis section of the bible detailing God’s creation of the world and its creatures. The session also includes a fun interactive activity, a wonderful, thought-provoking video about the importance of creation, and various discussion activities regarding how to show creation in different areas of their own lives. The slides are fairly self-explanatory, but I’ve included two pages of notes to assist the speaker. Hope that you find this useful!

This engaging and interesting lesson enables students to develop the knowledge and skills needed to analyse the structural features of previously unseen poems. In particular, they define and understand each of the key structural devices, practice identifying them in poems and analyse their effectiveness upon the reader. The lesson utilises a range of tasks, that require students to be both independent and collaborative learners. It follows this learning journey: -Defining and exemplifying each of the structural features through a group card-sorting activity; -Identifying each of the structural features in two poems through an exploratory task; -Understanding the writer’s intentions and the effect on the reader of various structural techniques; -Applying their understanding of the structural features and their effect to a comparison between two related poems; -Peer-evaluating their learning in the lesson. Included in this resource pack are: -A well-presented, thorough, and informative, whole-lesson PowerPoint presentation; -Structural features cards for the card-sorting activity; -‘Analysing Structural Techniques’ worksheet for the development task; -Copies of the poems ‘The Falling Leaves’ by Margaret Postgate Cole and ‘next to of course god america i’ by E.E. This 16-page resource booklet contains a wide range of challenging and engaging comprehension activities for use throughout the reading of William Wordsworth’s romantic poem ‘I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud.’ Teachers have found the activities particularly useful throughout teaching, or for exam revision or guided reading sessions.
